This individual coaching program is designed for dog lovers who feel like they want to have fun with their dog, whilst using special techniques that target mind health, stress reduction, physical health and emotional well-being.
You and your dog will meet with me for 6 sessions over the course over a few weeks and the following topics will be covered:
· Practical tools and exercises on how you can use the engagement with your dog for stress reduction and active relaxation. A lot of these tools are based on obedience training and engagement games. We will also use methods from Mindfulness and being in the present moment, which is a well-researched and evidence-based coaching approach.
· You will learn what unhelpful thinking styles look like, what the research says, and how you can become more adaptable, flexible and how you can "let go" quicker. Techniques used are based on "Acceptance and Commitment Therapy", which is also evidence-based, and effectiveness has been shown valid and helpful in countless studies.
·You will learn about how to deal with painful thoughts and feelings effectively, in such a way that they have much less impact and influence over you.
·We will discuss how to deal with strong emotions and what you can do to be compassionate towards yourself and others, and how your dog can assist you in doing this.
·You will also have more insight into what your strengths and weaknesses are in your coping repertoire.
·You will be shown how to use the engagement with your dog to boost your "happy hormones" and make you more resilient and as a result, how you have a better friendship with your dog
·You will gain insight into what makes your life truly meaningful and purposeful and then we use that knowledge to guide, inspire and motivate you to change your life for the better.
